IDENTIFICATION & SITE INFORMATION
- Wreck Name: Wreck 10 – Possible Buried Hull
- Other Names: “North Martindale Sediment Target”
- Vessel Type: Unconfirmed – shape suggests possible Hull or Barge segment
- Site Context: Inferred from visual analysis of two aerial photos (1965 drainage & 2006 surface scan); shape consistency suggests presence of a buried object
- Access: Shallow public water; not visually apparent without subsurface imaging or probe work
Note: This is a speculative wreck, best confirmed through future drone LIDAR or sonar scans.
CONSTRUCTION & OWNERSHIP
- Material: Unknown – possibly timber
- Estimated Length: ~10 m (33 ft)
- Builder/Owner: Undocumented
- Usage Theory: Small canal workboat, scow, or wreckage fragment from earlier canal operations
PROPULSION
- Power: Unknown – no structural propulsion elements observed in imagery
- Configuration: Unclear – possibly shallow-Draft and Barge-like
HISTORICAL CONTEXT
This target appeared in the 1965 drainage photo of Martindale Pond as a faint but Hull-shaped impression in the silt near the northern edge of the waterway. It appears again in 2006 aerial imagery as a subtle anomaly in water color and vegetation growth, suggesting it may still rest just beneath the pond floor.
Its small size and peripheral location hint it may be a debris vessel, support craft, or a derelict left behind during site restructuring post-Third Canal.
FINAL DISPOSITION
- Date of Abandonment: Unknown – pre-1965 at minimum
- How: Unknown; likely buried or deteriorated in place
- Condition: Presumed buried; minimal surface evidence
- Diving Status: Undivable at this time – only suitable for future archaeological verification or sediment scan survey
